Falmouth University Fox Building

Working alongside architectural practice APG we developed an interior design scheme that reinforced the brief of developing additional study spaces for the university's students - by joining four existing buildings together with a covered courtyard.

The scheme focused on creating a series of zones for students for individual and group study. The functionality of the space was considered and interventions added to allow for the flexibility of both day-time individual study and group study sessions, and as destination gallery space for events. New branding was developed to create an identity for the space and to connect students and visitors to the rich history and culture of the campus.

20/20 delivered a team up / tailored service for the client with the output being a highly successful space in a creative and energetic campus.

As a later addition we were commissioned to create bespoke group study space within the building. Our informal beach hut design creates a series of booth style working spaces, providing areas for private study within the larger space. Reflecting the creativity and coastal location of Falmouth University, the colourful huts, in the university’s brand palette, provide attractive and functional study spaces with a fun and creative edge.

In keeping with the area’s multi-functional use, the beach huts are flexible and mobile, and can be reconfigured to suit the various functions within the space. The bespoke booths were designed and constructed in house by our expert production team.

Ken Johnson, Director of Estates, Falmouth University:

“APG and 20/20 brought a tremendous level of personal enthusiasm to this project. They worked seamlessly together and gave a master-class in combining the best of architecture and interior design skills to produce an end product which is much greater than the sum of the two disciplines.”
