Supporting iSight Cornwall as our Christmas charity

This Christmas we will be donating to local charity iSightCornwall in place of sending Christmas cards. The charity is the only dedicated centre of resource for all in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly who are affected by sight loss, whatever their age, circumstance or condition.

Jaimie Sibert, Managing Director at 20/20 explains, “20/20’s work is all about providing everyone with an insight into their surroundings whether it be through engaging, interactive exhibits at a museum or a simple wayfinding scheme for a hospital or town centre.

We chose to donate to iSight Cornwall as our charity this Christmas, as their work to provide support and resources to those affected by sight loss resonates with us and our aim to inclusively welcome, inform and inspire all of our clients’ visitors.”

Carole Theobald, Deputy Chief Executive at iSightCornwall says: “We are delighted to have been chosen as 20/20’s Christmas charity. Every 15 minutes someone is told they are losing their sight, so having the support of local businesses helps us to make a real difference to the lives of local people. All the money raised in Cornwall stays in Cornwall to support blind and partially sighted residents to lead active and independent lives.”

Sight loss can have a devastating impact which is why iSightCornwall is there every step of the way offering emotional and financial support as well as practical advice about technology, equipment and visual aids to make daily living easier.

Jaimie added, “We hope that our contribution this Christmas will help to enhance the life of someone living with sight loss.”

IsightCornwall, established in 1856, supported Cornish miners many of whom lost their sight due to mining accidents and the hazardous working conditions of the time. Over 160 years on, the charity continues to support the visually impaired, helping over 4,000 people a year to lead active and independent lives.
